Can’t wait

I reach home. My real home…

After traveling for almost 2 days. I am here.it feels so good to be back. Even though as the plane landed I hold on my tears as I miss my husband so much. Wishing that if only, we as a family together  are going home. But anyhow,I’m just thankful that he’s there to work hard for us.

A week after, I’m itching to sew … Unfortunately the sewing machine needs to be serviced, cleaned and tuned. It’s a juki heavy duty industrial sewing machine, which I don’t really know how to use but will try my best to figure it out.

However that doesn’t stop me from buying fabric. Ha!

The blue flower is P90/yard ($2/yard) which is a soft cotton fabric

And the pink polka dot is P150/yard ($3.50/yard) a stretch cotton.

I can’t actually wait to go on market on Friday, they set up stalls and everything is cheaper. More like a flea market type.  I need mooorrreeeee fabric as I’m starting from none. That gives me extra reason to buy more fabric right?!

That’s it for now! Hopefully  I already made something with the next post.

Still sewing…

Having a baby and work made me so busy.,  that doesnt mean i stop sewing.. I still sew but was unable to write most of it..
Sending rhia to daycare didnt work for us. She just scream and scream and ofcourse it break my Heart. So we decided that i should stop working besides, what i make only goes to the daycare expenses. With that it gave me more time to sew. And blog

However stopping from work gave us problem. Since we are immigrant i wouldnt have any papers anymore to stay so i have to go back home leaving my husband to work..
Its such a hard decision to make but we have to for the future of Rhia..

Just like everytime i get sad i just sew.. To relieve myself and stop worrying.. To tell myself its not the end of the world… And in time we will be together again..

my take on easy breezy dress

living in the carribean means its summer all year round and that also means hot weather., well there is the rainy season but it doesnt last that much., so i cannot really dress R with jackets and pants going out., plus who goes on the pool and beach with a pants?

image

anyhow since she’s growing up so fast ang changing clothes a lot that means i need to have a descent amount of clothes and we all know that is quite expensive so i spend hours and hours on pinterest look and pinned some diy baby clothes then one day , errr i mean 1 night i decided to go for it. i cut my patteen pieces that night then took 2 days of nap time to finish it.,

i used  shwin shwin easy breezy dress pattern

Summer Breeze Baby Dress {Free PDF Pattern}

all the details and tutorial  is in there so go ahead and make one too., its really easy!

for the fabric i used my cherry cotton fabri

ound

i added ruffles on the skirt and ricrac trim which makes it more nicer

image

its also a little big for her since she’s 3months at that time but that is good so theres room to grow.,

thats it thanks for stopping by!

scraps and scraps and more scraps

since getting pregnant and giving birth i loose some weight. so from 190 pounds im down to 155., and i am quite determine  to lose a bit more and atleast make it stay like that., if you would ask me how?  really dont know., maybe it was the stress that made me lose the weight thats why i was on sick leave while carrying my little bub.

postpartum, i realized  all of my clothes are too big and the mini skirt and short short that i enjoyed is not really ideal anymore., so i did a wardrobe cleaning and i got 3 boxes to refashion and redo.

image

image

thats just 1 plastic full of clothes, i have more boxes., thus, i have been spending a lot of time in pinterest looking for ideas.,

and then last month a friend of my sister came here in  tobago., she came from trinidad and she had some scrap fabric with her.

its a descent size more like half yardage., some a bit small but definitely sewable.,

fabrics for the little girl

after failing on the onesie making, i wanted to try something easier., and i was able to make peasanr dress for my Rhia. so with that it excite me so much i decided to do some theraphy shopping., i call it therapy shopping because i feel great afterwards and since i think post partum depression is hitting me up . i went and delighted myself with a few fabrics

theyre about $2 each yard and we all kniw that baby dress are expensive.

image

image

image

arent they cute?

i also tried ordering online which is a big disappointment because its listed as knit so basically it would stretch right? but then its woven. the quality is okay but the price. not really .. i paid $27 for 4 half yards and instead of saving up it cost me a lot more. i just thought its knit stretchy thats why i ordered it. oh well,

i am happy with them thats i need to find time to make them into something. Rhia stop taking long naps so i dont know when but i have too..

DIY mittens from a baby suit

do you ever wonder why these small baby things cost a lot., i do.,
from onesie to socks and scratch mittens., its sure expensive to have a baby,! but those smiles and giggles  and theyre oooh and ahhhh’s are priceless.

whenever  i put scratch mitten on baby R they would always tell me that im preventing her from suckin on her hands.,  i dont know if its a thing here or maybe its just me but i do see primary schooler here still sucking their thumb. but anyway i actually use scratch mitten to prevent her from scratching her face, her nails grow fast that i have to clip it everyday. and if i forgot  to clip it then i would see a scratch on her face.  :|:|

i bought some and they cost $3.50 each., then they would always get lost.,
so since she have some of these overalls that doesnt fit her anymore and i dont want to throw it away i turn them into mittens

image

image

i open it up then rip the seam

i then trace on of her mittens and use it as a pattern
then trace it on the fabric

image

i was able to get 3 pairs., then i sew the u shape and put elastic on top.

image

they dont really look like store bought so i need more practice but they serve theyre purpose so im happy about that.!

image

thats her using one.,
baby is happy
mommy is happy
and pocket is happy that i save $10 so yay for me!!!

thats it! till next time..

onesie total failure

as with my previous  post i mentioned  that ive been wanting to sew something for my baby R so i decided on making a onesie.

i bought a rayon knit that is soo expensive so i decided to use a shirt to try it out first.,

image

i bought this shirt for $1.50 so its ok if i mess up., first i use her onesie as a pattern.,

then i cut and sew it up
i also use the sleeves to make a scratch mittens

image

it was a total fail because it is soo wavy., i dont really have a walking foot and im just using a basic machine thats why i have this finish product.,

image

image

she can still use it at home but going out? no no.,  i was still quite happy with the outcome given it was my first time with stretchy fabric

i need more practice and a better machine.,

i actually showed this to Mr B to persuade him that i need a  new machine and his answer is still ” SOON ” maybe after the christening there will be a bit space for a new machine.,

* update., i tried it on her and this is how it looks
image

image

it gave me hope and im going to make another one!

thats it for today., thanks for stopping by!!

Comfort sewing

after giving birth ive been wanting to sew mostly for my daughter., think onesies, dresses, leggings, headbands and stuff but with the demand of the baby i find it hard plus i have to attend to house chores, that made me feel sad and down and i am thinking maybe its just the hormones or maybe im having a post partum depression,  Mr B has and always  have been supportive to me but since he’s  working more than 12 hrs/day i dont really want to bother him.,

So when baby R started taking naps longer i quickly did wife duty then made me a short.,

image

i actually cut this one the night before. i do my cuttings  in the night as baby R and Mr B sleeps but i cant make noises. then, i would sew it on nap time bits by bits.,

since this is just a scrap i put pieces together

image

then added some lace because you gotta have some lace

image

i find it pretty and it did lighten up my mood., i was so happy with how it turn out., i can also wear it going out and on the beach.,

image

after that i cuddle and sleep with my precious  baby!

thats it for now,, thanks for stopping by!!
